Friends of Halletts Point is honored to work with a variety of local organizations committed to bettering the lives and cultural health for residents of the Halletts Point peninsula, the Astoria community, and beyond.
HANAC’s mission is to serve the needs of vulnerable populations throughout New York City. With administrative offices in Astoria and Manhattan, HANAC’s mission is to develop, implement and administer the operation of service programs for the betterment of the community and to work closely with other providers and city, state and federal governments for the betterment of the community.
OANA promotes quality of life, economic growth, and cultural health in areas closely integrated both culturally and economically to Old Astoria. OANA promotes communications between residents and city agencies, private business and/or developers, charities, and elected officials. OANA advocates for the local business environment and neighborhood reinvestment, both in artistic achievement and promotion, and in relations between various ethnic groups.
Covering all of Astoria, parts of Long Island City and Woodside, Queens Community Board 1 plays an important role in improving the quality of life for its residents. Within the most ethnically diverse community in New York City (and with over 118 nationalities represented, possibly the world) the Board’s mission is to encourage and facilitate the participation of citizens within local and City government, and the efficient and effective organization of agencies that deliver municipal services to the community.
Urban Upbound is dedicated to breaking cycles of poverty in New York City public housing and other low-income neighborhoods. Urban Upbound provides underserved youth and adults with the tools and resources needed to achieve economic prosperity and self-sufficiency through five comprehensive, integrated programs. Employment Services, Financial Counseling, Income Support Services, Community Revitalization, and Financial Inclusion services anchored by the Urban Upbound Federal Credit Union.
